Friday Favorites #5

Is it really Friday already?!

It’s my favorite day of the week by far for a few reasons.

  1. I know I’ll get a break from playing taxi for a couple of days.
  2. Its leftover night! Everything goes!
  3. Grocery run! (don’t ask me why I actually love this chore. 🙂
  4. And (even though I didn’t need another reason to LOVE Friday’s) It’s Friday Favorites!

I just love being able to share some of my favorite things with you all!

ONE:

My grandmas Cole slaw.

1 bag coleslaw mix

1C Mayonnaise

1/4 C apple Cider vinegar

1/2 C sugar

salt and pepper to taste

Mix mayo, vinegar and sugar to make the dressing, mix in with the cole slaw mix. Lay plastic wrap or parchment paper directly over top of cole slaw and refrigerate for 30 minutes-1 hour. This will really get those juices going! Then add salt and pepper to taste.

Enjoy!

Anyone else a cole slaw fan?!

None of my kids like the stuff.

Not sure if they are really even my kids.

I don’t make it too often.

Usually only on Thankgiving or at a Summer BBQ. Sometimes on taco night if we are going chicken or shrimp tacos. I just love a good coleslaw on a taco.

My mom always made my grandma’s coleslaw recipe growing up.

I LOVED it!

So of course for Thanksgiving I tried to duplicate it.

Although I didn’t actually have her recipe on hand so I had to do it from memory.

And this girls memory with recipes is not always the best.

But I went for it, and ended up getting so many compliments on it.

So much so that it was requested again at a party we went to last weekend.

At first I kind of panicked since I didn’t really follow a recipe and was afraid it wouldn’t turn out the same this time. But again, I went for it!

And it turned out just like that last.

I did go a little heavy on the amount I made though, so we’ve been on coleslaw repeat. This Friday its still a favorite, but if I have to have cole slaw as a side to another dinner I might just have to jump off the cole slaw band wagon.

TWO

Travelers

My husband got me hooked on this show, and now he doesn’t even watch it much!

Its like being on a roller coaster with him when we watch tv together.

He just can’t commit to one show.

But I’m hooked.

I don’t really want to give too much away but its about a group of people from the future who travel back in time into the body of another person.

You should definitely check it out!

THREE:

sneakers

BEST. SNEAKERS. EVER.

That’s really all I have to say about them. You should get yourself a pair and see for yourself.

FOUR

Nickel and suede earings. These earings are by far the most comfortable earing I’ve ever worn. They are made from genuine leather. And super super lightweight. You can get these teardrop earings in size small, med, or large. I have three pair and have only ordered medium so far. They just seem like the perfect size.

You don’t even feel like you’re wearing an earing, which I LOVE!

Nothing worse then a cute dangly earing that just pulls on your ear all day.

She just realeased some new patterns and look for the new year! You should definitely go over and check them out!

FIVE

Fitbit scale

Ok, so these days, the number on the scale isn’t my favorite. But I do have to keep reminding myself, its just anumber.

I’m at a constant battle with myself as to wether I want to feel good in my jeans more or eat the pizza more.

9 times out of 10 the pizza wins.

This scale though is absolutely worth the price tag!

You can program the scale to recognize up to 8 people. So it will know exactly who is stepping on.

It will tell each indivdaully their weight, body fat percentage, lean mass and BMI.

And you can sync it with your fitbit so you can have all of your stats set onto your watch, helping you stay on track at all times!

SIX

I was worried I wouldn’t be able to include this one, since I wasn’t quite finished reading it yet, but I finished last night and GUYS I’ve got another favorite book for you all!

Bread and Wine was nothing what I expected it to be, but so much more!

I have to admit, it took a little effort to get into at first.

The book is a series of essays looking back at the authors best and hardest moments. Spent surrounded by the people she loves. And mostly around the table.

It was much different from the last few books I read. I wasn’t left with a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter.

But this one really pulls at your heart strings.

And gives you a whole new perspective on life and love and family.

The Author Shauna Niequist has such a way with her words.

The book was so meticulously and perfectly written. It was everything I needed it to be and more.

Do yourself a huge favor and go read this book NOW! 🙂

Sorry to be so abrasive but it was another good one guys! I want you all to feel just what I felt when I read it. So many emotions.

JUST.

SO.

GOOD.

And. AND. To make it even better. It doubles as a cookbook. She has a recipe at the end of almost every chapter.

I’ve already tagged a few pages to try out in the near future.

Loved it.

So I’ll just leave you all with that.

A few of my favorite things from the week.

Which again guys..

broken record here…

but IT FLEW BY!

Enjoy every moment of this weekend guys!
