Good morning friends!! Happy Tuesday!
Today is Tuesday Talk with Ashley and Erika!
This is a fun little link up party where we hop on to talk a little bit about anything and everything that we want to chat about! I am super excited to talk to y’all a little about our Summer Bucket List.
My sister was called back to work a couple of weeks ago and being a single mom she was struggling to find camps/childcare for her kiddos with all the new covid changes, so I offered to take her two older ones for the remainder of the summer to help out a bit.
To me, having a house full of kids, although sometimes loud and crazy, is such a happy thing.
But, if we don’t have a plan in place for the day it can get a little chaotic.
Yesterday, for example was a super hot day. Our pool is out of commission at the moment. My friend was here coloring my hair for me, and the kids were just playing indoors all day. IT. WAS. LOUD!
And the funny thing is the loud ones were the older ones.
Anyway, my point with all of this rambling is that we sat down and created a summer bucket list to help make those “I’m bored” moments a little less boring.
We tried our best to keep out bucket list covid compliant and somewhat easy on the wallet.
We’ve been rolling through it so far, and I’m very excited to keep checking things off this week.
So far we have checked off…..
1.GETTING BRACES
It’s so funny to me that this was something they WANTED to do. I remember when I was their age I felt so special and proud to be the one without the braces. It was never something I thought anyone would ever want to have.
We went in last week for their consultation, and before I knew it I was signing away every penny in my bank account and they were getting the braces put on.
Here goes nothing!
2.WHIFFLE BALL
3.NACHO TABLE
This was a realllly good day guys! haha
We opted for a totcho/nacho table so that the girls could enjoy it with their braces. It was so much fun to create cook everything up and even more fun to eat it!
I would really like to do something like this next time we host a big gathering. There are so many possibilities with topping choices.
4. ROCK PAINTING
This activity kept the kids busy for HOURS!! I’m not even kidding, I was so shocked that they were so into this. The little ones even lasted for a while. But the bigger kids….we’re talking like 4-5 hours of painting. It was such a great project for them.
The next day we loaded up some of our best work and spread them around my moms garden. She was super surprised and so happy to have all of her grandkids artwork in her garden.
5. ROADTRIP
This was a bit of an upexpected roadtrip, and probably not the most fun, but we tried to squeeze a few fun things into it.
My oldest was invited to the beach with her friend for a few days. They were going last Friday through Tuesday. She was going to be missing softball practice but we told her that was fine.
Then we remembered that she had an appointment on that Tuesday morning that we just couldn’t miss.
So on Monday we packed up the car to go pick her up from the beach. We drove to the beach house, took a little bike ride to the bay for a bit, hung out at the house, grabbed some wawa for lunch and then drove a little farther to the drive on beaches to pick her up.
Today I think we’re going to head out for a walk to our local ice cream shop for a treat.
Having a bucket list has really been a life saver so far this summer, when they get bored we just head over to our list and pick something to do.
Do you guys have a bucket list? What do you do to keep busy during the summer?!
I’d love to hear more ideas! π
Hope you all have such a great day!! I’m already looking forward to Friday! We are heading back down to the beach for 10 days of softball, friends, food, and fun and I CAN. NOT. WAIT.
We live on a lake so our bucket list includes a lot of swimming, boating, and jet skiing. We also tend to put a lot of food stuff on our list– picking fresh fruit, making homemade Popsicle and ice cream. This year we really want to try making waffle brownie sundaes. Years past we’ve had silly string &/or water balloon fights.
